Why is there no Google Maps pin yet?

How do you find the hotel on the last stretch?

The long drive is rarely the confusing part; what makes guests hesitate is the last few minutes inside the village. Our suggested order:

1. Follow the pin we send, not a search for the hotel name.
2. Message us as you enter Bukit Lawang. Our reservations team can talk you through the final turns if you are unsure.
3. Look for the hotel’s landmark: a large car park shaded by trees, with a pavilion near the entrance (see the photo below). If what you see is different, stop somewhere safe and message us before carrying on.
4. Park on site and check in.

We deliberately do not give distances or walking times from the hotel to other places in the village, because we have not measured them. If you need to know, ask our reservations team directly.

How long is the trip from Medan or Kualanamu Airport?

In short: Bukit Lawang is about 86 km from Medan according to Wikipedia, and the road trip usually takes a few hours depending on your vehicle and traffic; from Kualanamu, add the transfer towards Medan. What if you arrive at night or in the rain?

Arriving after dark or in the rain is fine, as long as our team knows in advance.

• Send your estimated arrival time in the morning, and update us if you are delayed. Reservations WhatsApp is open 24 hours.
• Do not race the clock on wet roads. Arriving late with a message is better than rushing the drive.
• Keep the pin saved offline, make sure your phone is charged, and have a small torch ready.
• If it is raining, park on site and unload near the entrance pavilion.
• If you want to eat when you arrive, ask first whether the hotel restaurant will still be serving — we have not published its opening hours yet.
• If you arrive before 14:00, let us know. An early room depends on availability that day.

What should you give your driver?

If you are using a driver or rental car, pass on three things: the hotel name (Rindu Alam Hotel, Bukit Lawang), the pin we sent and the landmark of the car park with a pavilion at the entrance. If your driver has not been to Bukit Lawang before, ask them to message our reservations team on the same WhatsApp as they approach the village — usually quicker than relaying directions through a passenger.
